“Disruptor” is defined as “a company or form of technology that causes radical change in an existing industry or market by means of innovation.” In recent history, it is also being associated with politics or even violence. With the start of this new Financial Policy Council series (Positive Disruptors for Change), we will explore how creativity, initiative and persistence is changing non-technology-related aspects of our economy in positive ways.

FEATURING:

MODERATOR:

Denise Meridith – CEO of Denise Meridith Consultants Inc and The World’s Best Connectors LLC, was a poor Black girl born in Brooklyn pre-the Civil Rights movement, who rose to become the top career executive in the Federal Bureau of Land Management, overseeing 260 million acres of lands and minerals, 10,000 employees, and $1.1 billion budget. During her Federal and post-government public consulting CEO career, she has been involved in the creation of State Farm NFL stadium, Tempe Town Lake, designation of numerous national monuments and other projects that have brought billions of dollars to Arizona’s economy. Today she will moderate this first panel of disruptors, who have been reshaping our economy nationally.

PANELISTS:

Ziad Abdelnour is the CEO of Blackhawk Partners and the founder of the Financial Policy Council. This Wharton graduate is a radical Wall Street financier, dealmaker, best-selling author, public speaker, and activist, who has over 30-year experience on Wall Street backing over 125 companies & serial entrepreneurs worth in aggregate over 20 billion dollars in the private equity, high yield bond, and distressed debt markets. Abdelnour was recently recognized as one of the Top 10 Disruptors to Watch Out for in 2023 by LA Weekly.

Greg Hague is a graduate of American and Miami Universities and an attorney, real estate authority and TV spokesperson. Hague upset the long-term, aggravating methods of traditional residential real estate sales when he founded 72SOLD.  This is a program for selling a home in eight days or less, which made homeowners very happy and traditional realtors not so much! The company has gone on to attract great reviews, innovation awards and has become one of Inc 5000’s top 300 fastest-growing companies in America.

Tom Hatten is an experienced Chief Executive Officer with a demonstrated history of working in the health wellness and fitness industry. While still a junior at Arizona State University, he had an idea to create “the friendliest gym in town” which would offer free towel service!  He opened the first small fitness center called Mountainside Fitness in Ahwatukee, Arizona in 1991.  Hatten now has 16 locations and 80,000 members. He is popular with employees, members, and, as importantly, is an active member of his community.

Vada Manager is the Founder/CEO of Manager Global Holdings LLC and Manager Global Consulting Group. It would take pages to document the accomplishments and activities of this African-American kid from East St Louis, who became an executive for Nike and Levi’s, an advisor to South African President Nelson Mandela and US President Barack Obama and has been featured on the cover of national magazines, like Savoy. Manager has shattered many glass ceilings and has been involved at an executive, advisory or ownership level in everything from sports (e.g., NBA, NASCAR) to automotive oil manufacturing to movie-making.
